About the Role
At Torus, we believe the best data analysts don't just report what happened—they uncover why it happened and what we should do about it. As a Senior Data Analyst, you'll work in a fast-paced environment where data directly shapes product decisions, operational improvements, and customer outcomes. If you thrive on moving quickly from question to insight to action, and you're energized by the challenge of finding signals in noisy, real-world energy systems data, this role is for you.
You'll be a key member of our data team, working within our modern data stack (dbt, Redshift, Airflow, Fivetran, Metabase, and Streamlit) to develop analysis and reporting solutions that inform strategic decisions across the organization—from product development to operations to customer success.
Your work will involve transforming complex system data into actionable insights. You'll build dashboards and automated reports that help stakeholders understand system performance, customer behavior, and operational efficiency. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define metrics, improve data quality, and ensure that the right data is accessible to the right people at the right time.
Our products operate within complex ecosystems including IoT, the electrical grid, commercial and industrial buildings, and smart home devices. You'll help us understand how these systems perform, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure the impact of our innovations on energy efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Who You Are
- A business partner first, analyst second: You see yourself as an extension of the teams you support, not a service provider. You meet stakeholders where they are—whether that means translating ambiguous business questions into concrete analytics, teaching someone SQL basics, or building a quick-and-dirty dashboard to test an idea. You're as comfortable in a strategy meeting as you are in your code editor.
- Action-oriented problem solver: You don't wait for perfect data or complete requirements. You find creative solutions with what's available, moving quickly from questions to insights to recommendations. When faced with data gaps or messy systems, you figure out workarounds and path forward rather than getting stuck.
- Naturally curious: You dig deeper to understand the "why" behind the numbers and aren't satisfied with surface-level analysis. When something doesn't make sense, you investigate until it does.
- Comfortable with ambiguity: You thrive in environments where problems aren't neatly defined and the path forward isn't always clear. You're resourceful and autonomous—able to scope your own work, prioritize competing demands, and deliver impact without hand-holding.
- Clear communicator: You translate complex data into insights that resonate with diverse audiences. You know when to lead with the answer versus walk through your methodology, and you tailor your message to your audience.
- Mission-driven: You're passionate about using data to create a more resilient and sustainable electrical grid and transform how communities consume energy.
- Team-focused: You believe the best work happens collaboratively. You actively share knowledge, help others solve problems, and contribute to a culture where everyone gets better together.
What You'll Own

- Validate technical feasibility of product concepts early, working with engineering to identify risks and opportunities before significant resources are committed.
- Drive continuous delivery by partnering with Engineering leaders to continuously manage their Kanban boards with a major emphasis on iterative development.
- Create cross-functional alignment and prioritization for experiences and features requiring coordination across hardware, power electronics, firmware, data, and software teams.
- Make informed tradeoff decisions by understanding how system components interact—from power electronics to cloud infrastructure—and the implications of technical choices on customer experience, timeline, and cost.
- Drive requirement clarity by asking the hard questions upfront that prevent downstream confusion and rework across engineering teams.
- Own product documentation including product requirement documents, experience briefs, success metrics, and go-to-market requirements for system-level capabilities.
- Identify opportunities where technical improvements can unlock multiple customer value propositions, and advocate for strategic technical investment.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Experience
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or related field) and 3-5 years of experience in a highly analytical environment (e.g., business intelligence, data analytics, corporate strategy, consulting, or similar roles), but we value diverse learning paths and welcome candidates who demonstrate equivalent expertise
