About Pattern
Pattern is transforming airport ground operations through AI-driven software and robotics. Our mission is to make aviation logistics efficient, predictable, and human-friendly. With tools like Pulse (our data & dispatch platform), Co-pilot (think "Uber for airport equipment dispatch"), and Pathfinder (a flexible robotic conveyor belt) we’re building the ecosystem of tools to drive airport operations. Join our team of 25+ brilliant minds in Boulder, where our culture thrives on: Autonomy | Humility | Customer Obsession | Enthusiasm | Transparency
Your Mission
Architect and scale Pattern's financial engine as we transition from a product-led startup to a market-leading enterprise. You will be the strategic financial partner to the CEO and leadership team, owning everything from fundraising and financial modeling to operational finance and compliance. Your work will provide the clarity and rigor needed to navigate rapid growth.
Key Responsibilities
Data-Driven Decision Intelligence: Transform financial data into actionable business intelligence. Provide deep-dive analysis on unit economics, customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and gross margins to drive strategic decisions across product, sales, and customer success.
Financial Operations & Scalability: Own and modernize our core financial operations—AP, AR, Payroll, and Month-End Close. Implement scalable systems (ERP, financial software) and processes to support our transition from dozens to hundreds of customers and team members.
Contract & Deal Structuring: Partner with the sales and leadership teams to structure and model complex, high-value customer contracts. Ensure deals are not only commercially attractive but also financially sound and operationally deliverable.
Compliance & Risk Management: Establish and maintain robust internal controls and financial compliance frameworks. Manage annual audits, tax strategy, and mitigate financial risk as we scale into new markets and regulatory environments.
Strategic Finance & Fundraising: Support key fundraising efforts, from crafting compelling narratives to managing investor relations. Build and maintain the long-range financial model that serves as our strategic north star for growth, hiring, and market expansion.
Team & Function Building: As our first executive finance hire, you will build the finance function from the ground up. This is a player-coach role that will evolve into leading a high-performing team as the company grows.
Tools We Use
QuickBooks | Excel/Google Sheets (you will lead our system upgrade) | ERP | SaaS Metrics Platforms

Strategic Business Partner: You go beyond reporting the numbers to being a key strategic voice. You leverage data to influence company strategy, challenge assumptions, and identify new growth opportunities.
Aviation Insider: (Super nice to have!) You understand aviation business operation. Timing, quirks, value, key people, and underlying processes. You're set to help us navigate success with our customers because you've lived it.
Systems Architect: You have experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing financial systems (e.g., ERP) that can scale with a rapidly growing business. You are as comfortable designing a process as you are analyzing a P&L.
